Tang Yuan - Chinese Glutinous Rice Balls
Happy Lunar New Year! Gung Hay Fat Choy! Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous year 🧧🧨🐂🎊
This is a Chinese dessert called Tang Yuan that is typically eaten at LNY. It is a glutinous rice ball with sweet filling. My personal favorite is sesame filling!! With its round shape, Tang Yuan serves as a symbol for family reunion and togetherness😊.
I am by no means an expert, and I think that’s okay. I’ve enjoyed all the great foods that come with Lunar New Year but never understood the cultural aspect behind the foods. Fortunately, we have so much information at our fingertips that has allowed me to learn more! Now I am so grateful to connect with my parents a lot more. Food not only nourishes your body but also your relationships — we love!!!
I didn’t make these Tang Yuans, but you can get them in the frozen aisle at any Chinese Supermarket!
