Steamed Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce

Ingredients

Protein

  • 1 lb pork spare ribs

Sauce

  • 3 tsp chinese fermented black beans (douchi)

  • 1 tbps cooking wine (brand = kwangtung for best results)

  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/4 tsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp water

Directions

  1. Cut your pork spare ribs into bite size pieces (ask the butcher to do this in the store or use a meat cleaver).

  2. Put the ribs on a shallow plate to be used for steaming the ribs.

  3. Mince the fermented black beans and add on top of the pork.

  4. Mix together cornstarch and water in a separate container.

  5. Add in cooking wine, ginger powder, minced garlic, sugar, salt, sesame oil and cornstarch slurry.

  6. Combine all the ingredients with the pork.

  7. Steam for 10 minutes.
